Lily Ashrowan is an artist specialising in performance, moving image and writing. She shifts between the syntax of movement and the choreography of language, to think through our contemporary relationship with our bodies situated in space, from the psychogeographical space of rural landscapes, to the real virtual space of the internet. Her work deals with themes of embodiment, memory, dance and desire and looks to find portals which point towards a more joyful future. She is based between the Scottish Borders and London, and holds a BA in Fine Art and Art History from Goldsmiths, University of London.
She has screened at film festivals internationally including Alchemy Film Festival, Scotland; Revolutions per Minute Festival, Boston and Darkroom Festival, Deptford X, London. Recent Exhibitions, include With Whom We Mutually Communicate? at Copeland Gallery, Peckham and Horizons Photography Show at ArtHub Studios Deptford. She has also recently collaborated with Designer Crimson DM Lily on her graduate fashion collection.
